What to expect
We will hike into camp. It is a shorter hike, but long enough to get really warm. If there is snow, we will hike in on snow shoes. At camp we will build a fire together, have a snack and explore our immediate surroundings. We look for signs of wild life, chat about precautions that need to be taken, what to expect, which animals sleep in the cold and which don’t and how to deals with animals we might encounter. Water will be collected for dinner time, and w will cook dinner together over the fire. The fire will be the center of our activities until we tuck in. Stories, smores, hot chocolate, star gazing and listening into the night.
We fill bottles with hot water and set them in the sleeping bags to warm up, brush teeth and get ready for the night. Guides will make sure that everybody has enough layers on and check for general comfort.
In the morning the crew gets up, shares stories about sleeping in a tent in the colder season, and awaits a hearty breakfast made over the fire. We check with camp participants ahead of time for preferences, allergies, and medication.
After cleaning up, talking about no trace, the group will go on a hike and meet with parents at the trailhead at 1 pm to head back home .
Multi Day Overnights will go on a longer hike, have snacks and lunch on the hike and return to camp for dinner and the camp fire.
Our guides are First aid certified, have lots of winter camping experience and a satellite telephone with them, just in case.
Be prepared, it is fun and your kids will want to go on a family winter camp!!! We would love to have you, too!
